Yeah, what he said. MUGEN isn't very system intensive. And there's no coding. Just lots of gui-editing and button-pressing.
I've always wanted to make my Be'elzebub character as a MUGEN fighter, among other characters of mine. What characters do you guys think you'd try to make?

I'd be happy with just having Zero (using the X2, or X3 sprites). I'd be doing some serious cutting up of the MMZ style Zero.

Actually I've always dreamed about making a more realistic ninja that centered on defensive abilities (counters, breaks, etc) and lightning speed. Which wouldn't work well with my style, but would be fun to watch someone else master. And then there is the testosterone inspiried urge to make a Morrigan variation. 8) What can I say, I've a soft spot for that succubus. heh heh heh Okay, a hard spot too. And doing a variation on J. Talbain would be neat... without the "magical" moves. Just a raging brute with claws and neat bite graphics. Are these possible?

I thought of some more things, actually. I remembered that I wanted characters to each have two different weapons/fighting styles they can switch between. For instance Darlos has a Sword and a Staff. And that's what the other button would be used for. It seems that a lot of people assign the "start" button to taunting, so you could still have taunts. Also, I realized there was no point in having two different button combinations to counter high and low, because you could just have one combination and counter high by standing and doing it, and counter low by crouching and doing it (and countering in the air would counter any incoming attack, whether the enemy is in the air as well or not). Since that would require pressing two of the attack buttons at the same time, it begs the question of what the other two would be used for when pressed together. SOMETHING would be cool. More is good... maybe something like Dust in Guilty Gear, where doing it standing knocks the enemy way up, crouching does a trip, and arial does a smack-down. Oh, and don't forget air-recovers. Hit any button while flailing helplessly through the air to regain your control. That's always fun.
Hm... well, with all of that in mind, you guys could probably start coming up with moves lists. This is 2D, so it'd be sort of a special/super special sort of thing. Not a bunch of preset combos like Tekken or most other 3D fighters. Basically, each character would have three sets of specials. The first would be ones that they could use no matter what weapon/style they currently had, and the other two sets would be based on the two different weapons/styles respectively. Also, keep in mind that you'd have to have certain attacks that can only be used while in the powered-up mode for all three sets.
As for the actual spriting... actually, people tend to take pre-existing character sprite sets and edit the crap out of them to get their own characters. Which, really, is what I'd propose to do. Starting right from scrach would be crazy.
And Zophar... well, I can't really tell you what to do. It's your editing. You can make a Zero character if you want, but it wouldn't become an official character of the project. As for Morrigan, Horus... well, same thing.
Well, that's my fourty cents. I'm now off on a tangent about game ideas. Everybody run and hide.

Morrigan "variation", s'il vous plait? I'd have to edit the CRAP out of her sprite. Give it the "Re-spin" and make it as uniquely mine as I can, givin the source. 8) *stands up to bear the firce winds of the tangent hurricane* I like these tangents, roll on brother-man!

I'm really too lazy to do anything with MUGEN, other than download various characters and pit them against each other in idiotic match-ups that would make most people cringe.

Hmm, that's too bad. :( I don't know coding or programming to save me keister. But I'll still download the recommended programs and maybe that will be enough to make me get off my butt and learn some techniques. The idea is just cool enough to motivate such learning.
