 Gundam SEED Destiny
Since I doubt anyone here has actually seen all of the origninal Gundam SEED, I won't make this spoiler-ish.
Gundam SEED Destiny is now being released in Japan. Which, ultimatly, means that weekly fansubs will be floating around as the episodes come out. The first episode has been around for a few days, and, as you can imagine might happen due to a sequal, many of the accomplisments in original SEED seem to fall apart again. Also, due to some rather weird things in the intro and outro of Destiny, there's speculation of a... Lux (Lacus, whatever) body double. And now there's a NEW "mask guy." He has a black and red mask, though. What's weirder is that there's a younger character named Ray ZaBurrel with longish blonde hair who looks like he SHOULD be wearing a mask, though seems to be a main character at this point. Odd things are in store for the new Gundam universe...

I picked up the first DVD for my birthday (and that's how it is past 30, you buy your own gifts ) and I can say that it is way cool! Of course I'm biased. I've loved Gundam from the get-go. Only exception being Gundam G... or whatever its Japanese name was. Don't know and really couldn't care less. I'm also not a huge fan of Wing, but I wont go into that here. SEED though is just awsome! Everything about it clicks for me. I'm looking forward to seeing it develop.

Just... watch it in japanese. I'm sorry, but the japanese actors portray the drama so much better. And something to note: when it was taken over to america, they went and butchered some of the names in both spelling and pronounciation. The biggest one is Frey/Flay. I'm sorry, but it's Frey. Not only does it sound like a girl's name, it's also a reference to some god of sex in some mythology (I want to say norse). If you watch the series, you'll know why that applies. The next one is Lux/Lacus. Really, that one can go either way. BUT, if you use the Lacus version, it's not pronounced "LACK-us" for god's sake. The "La" is pronounced "lah," like you're singing, if you're gonna go with that spelling. Deakka/Dearka is just dumb. Come on, it's Deakka. Dearka sounds stupid. Issac/Yzak can also go either way, really, as they both pretty much sound the same. Cagalli is kind of odd. It IS Cagalli, as her name is actually written down at one point in the show on the back of a photograph. In the english they pronounce it kind of oddly, like "ca-GA-lli." I'd say it sounds better as "CA-ga-lli," where you stress the first syllable. But maybe that's just me. The last one I can think of is maybe Nataral. I swear her name was supposed to be Natali, but the Japanese just made it sound weird as they tend to do with foreign words.
I can't think of any more weird name changes. Note that, to me, the Frey/Flay thing is just inexcusable. The rest are maybe passable.
So, enjoy the show. It's a bumpy ride.
