Cool anime that you should see
I decided to make a thread on anime I've seen that you may not have heard much about, and that I feel the need to inform you about. Please feel free to reply and inform me of the same sort of stuff :-). Some of this stuff is new and only available in fansub form where other has been out on DVD for a long time.
Let's see....
Gasaraki: A mecha but an ultra-realistic one. The mechs are simply bi-pedal tanks and can take the punishment that a hardcore tank could take. Also incredibly political. It breaks with Gundam style mecha as far as combat goes, and makes the politics in Gundam Wing look simple. It also has good characters.
Chrono Crusade: Chrono Crusade centers around the demon hunter Rosette and her demonic ally Chrono. Silly to start with, incredibly fucking serious to end with, Chrono Crusade is entertaining throughout its 24 episode run and touching quite often. Excellent characters, great art. Also has a damn good opening theme.
Haibane Renmei: Um....this one is hard to explain...um....um...go here:http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1871
Samurai Champloo: Remember Cowboy Bebop? Well, the guys that produced it decided it would be cool to mix hip-hop and Samurai action together. Sounds stupid, right? It's actually really fucking cool.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Alchemist was insanely popular in Japan, for starters. Centers around the character Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse. Ed and Al attempted to use alchemy to bring their mother back from the dead (forbidden by the Laws of Alchemy). As punishment, Ed lost his leg and arm. Al lost his entire body but not before Ed could transplant his soul into a suit of armor. Now they wander the world searching for the Philosopher's Stone an artifact said to be capable of breaking the Law of Equivalent Trade, thus allowing them to restore their bodies to the way they once were. Fullmetal Alchemist is long and has a number of "filler" episodes that basically do nothing to advance the story. BUT, they characterize the hell out of the cast. Character centric anime, with an interesting world setup. Definetly worth checking out.
Gundam SEED: Well, I imagine you've all heard of SEED by now. I just love it so much I had to mention it. Makes me sleep better or something.

I actually went out and bought Gasaraki because I loved how it started, completely realistic, and really unique. I really enjoyed it right up until it went Evangelion. There can be only one Evangellion! Still glad I bought it though. The mechs are amazingly thought out.

I've only seen the first episode of Samurai Shamploo so far and the style is definatly an interesting one. I believe I shall download more after I catch up on the rest of Naruto... Which is also quite good believe it or not...
